Scholarships
Check with organizations in your community, like churches, businesses, foundations, and even your parents’ employers. It never hurts to ask what’s available.
Grants
Grants are typically based on financial need and awarded through federal programs. PELL grants are awarded to almost 10 million students annually. SEOG are special grants for students with especially strong financial need, with priority given to PELL awardees.
Campus-specific scholarships
All Universities of Wisconsin offer scholarships to incoming students. Some are automatically awarded based on academic profile, while others are awarded based on a scholarship application review. Many scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that the later you apply, the fewer scholarships may be available.
All UW universities have different scholarship processes and deadlines, therefore prospective students are strongly urged to review UW-specific scholarship information as early as possible. The chart below provides links to each UW university’s webpage dedicated to scholarship information. As you explore these websites, please be aware that many UWs have established priority scholarship application deadlines that range between November and early February.
