Transfer Admission Requirements

Life happens and things change. We get that. Maybe you want to explore a new major not offered at your current campus. Or maybe you want to experience a bigger (or smaller) campus. Whatever the reason, a smooth transition is the goal. This section covers the admission requirements for transfer students. If you’ve enrolled at a college/university and now wish to attend a UW System campus, you’re in the right spot.

Transfer Admission Guidelines

A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to be considered for admission. All applications meeting the minimum requirement will go through a comprehensive review to determine admissibility.

Minimum GPA Requirements for Admission Consideration to Specific Majors

2.50 Business
2.75 Criminal Justice (major courses) AND 2.5 cumulative GPA
2.50 Economics (BBA degree only)
2.75 Education (3.0 Student Teaching)
2.75 Exercise and Sport Science, Rehabilitation Science, Strength and Conditioning 
2.50 Human Services Leadership (2.5 cumulative and 2.75 major GPA and 65 credits completed for Internship; 2.75 cumulative GPA and 3.0 major GPA for Advanced Internship)
2.50 Interactive Web Technology (to be eligible to enroll in upper-level Business courses)
2.25 Japanese Studies
2.50 AMP – Advertising, Multimedia Journalism, and Public Relations
2.75 Medical Laboratory Science minimum for consideration, 3.2 or higher recommended
2.80 Nursing Minimum is 2.8 pre-nursing (in select courses) GPA, 3.25pre-nursing (in select courses) GPA preferred
3.00 Medical Imaging – Radiologic Science – (minimum for consideration into the clinical program); 3.00 Medical Imaging – Sonography – (minimum for consideration), 3.33 preferred
2.50 Radio/TV/Film

Credit and Other Requirements for Admission Consideration

Students with fewer than 30 earned credits at an accredited institution, or students who have solely earned credit from a Wisconsin Technical College must also submit an official high school transcript.

Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates

Accepting applications: August 1, 2024

Decision Deadline: Accepting applications on a rolling admission basis.

Registration Dates

All admitted transfer students register on assigned transfer registration dates. The student's registration date is based on the number of earned credits.
